Some sort of statements is there which are not actually, but generally, laws for all jurisdictions. No federal law is there to govern the slot machines, so such jurisdictions may differ from state-to-state.

The type known as ‘class’ of slot machines are restricted by some states for using them in casinos or some other areas of gaming.

The centralized system of computer independently operates the ‘traditional’ or ‘Class III’ slot machines as well as the chances of the player to win payouts become similar with all plays. Most frequently, Class III slots are observed in Atlantic City or Nevada and are at times known as ‘Vegas-style slots’.

‘VLTs’ or the ‘video lottery terminals’ called Class II slot machines are aligned with the centralized system of computers determining the outcome of all wagers. Thus, Class II slot machines imitates the lottery tickets which were already scratched-off in that all machines gets the equal probability of winning a sequence of limited prizes. Either the skill elements of a player might or might not been possessed by the slot machines.

Generally, to become a Class II game, a game should possess all the features of a Class II game. Any features of a Class III game constitutes it to be called as a Class III game.

A fee has to be paid by the casinos to the states for all the games of Class III level and is only allowed to buy so many licenses of Class III slot machines.

But no such limitations are there for the slot machines of Class II. The states do not strictly regulate games of Class II.
