In the game generally the regular 52 cards of deck is used. Cards in each suits ranked from low to high –ie., Ace is low and K(King) is high, ascending from A, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J(Jack),Q(Queen) and K(King). The main aim of the game is to build sets of 3 or sequence of the 3 or 4 cards of the same suit in order to win the game. This game is normally for 2 players and 10 cards are dealt to each player. The game can also be played by more than 2 players. The first player is selected arbitrarily. Few cards are placed face up to create the discard pile and the rest are placed face down to form the stock pile. Each player has the option to select cards from these piles. One card must be discarded from a player’s hand on top of the discard pile.
In every turn, players try to build sequences of 3 or more cards of the same suit or sets of 3 or more cards of the same rank. The balance cards are deadwood cards and the sum of these cards should not be more than 10 points. If a player discloses his deadwood counts then this is called knocking. If a knocking is declared without matchless cards then this is called “Going Gin” and a player gains bonus points.
